"I woke up with the fire alarm blaring, wearing that ridiculous painted on costume, which means he saw me in my underwear."
"You mean like on Diff’rent Strokes?"
"Yes, Gus, just like Diff’rent Strokes."
"That’s not cool."

This was a well structured plot. Archie saves a woman passed out in his cab and he feels great about himself for being a hero and saving a woman’s life. He finds out the woman was actually a transvestite and immediately freaks out and starts talking about queers and the Bible, but the way the dialogue between Edith and Mike plays against Archie, it recalls to the prejudice viewer and to Archie that a few moments ago they were proud that he saved a human life.
I bring this episode up because when I mentioned I was starting to watch this series, an older friend of mine said that his Bible thumping parents got into a big fight about this episode when it first aired, and that it actually changed his mother’s outlook on gays being people too.
